Thank you for your interest in attending this community resilience "HUB" planning conversation. This is a great opportunity to learn about the new Community Resilience "HUB" model for disaster planning that is being used across the United States and developed as communities struggle to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. What many have learned is that it is important to plan for tough times before an emergency scenario arises. Communities that have a plan, survive, and community resilience hubs can provide a place to come together when neighbors need each other most.
Please join us for an evening of learning and sharing. Come with your questions and ideas! We will provide an overview of the Action 15 Project, and then you will have a chance to look at maps for your local area and participate in a group ranking activity to determine the most suitable locations for a hub in your neighborhood. Findings will be included in the report for the Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resilience as part of the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to inform efforts for the development of a network of resilience hubs on O'ahu. Data, maps and other resources will be made directly available to you so you will have the means to participate and stay informed about local planning efforts regarding a hub in your area.
This workshop is part of a research study approved by the University of Hawaii. IRB:2022-00652. Study information can be found here: http://go.hawaii.edu/28C. Please direct all questions to cerene15@hawaii.edu.
