In line with the UH System Strategic Plan's foundational principle to "continue to diversify its faculty, staff and leadership." this workshop will reflect on some of the most recent research conducted by the USC Race and Equity Center in which a Racial Equity Commission for California Community Colleges was established to examine equity practices at dozens of community colleges. The speaker will share the commission's major findings, with special emphasis on equity-minded hiring practices and professional development practices. He will provide activities and tools that can be adopted on our Hawai'i campuses, as well as participate in a talk-story portion in which ideas can be openly exchanged.
